Exercise 5

Where My Attention Goes

Have you ever been irritable and impatient while waiting in a long line at the bank, the supermarket, or the airport?

Where your attention goes, you go!

When your attention is directed by an unconscious and frightened part of your personality, you follow it. Frightened parts of your personality look for what is not right, what is not working, and what they do not have.

Try this experiment.

For the next week, pay attention every time you encounter something that often makes you irritated, impatient, angry, judgmental, or jealous. Think about how you can respond differently.

Then choose a response that will create
the most healthy consequence possible.

Write what you learned about yourself below.
